Pleasure Pier in Galveston, Texas offers waterfront entertainment on the Gulf Coast including family-friendly attractions such as rides, a midway, and many retail and dining options. There are 15 rides and a midway arcade with family friendly games and carnival activities for all ages. Rides have medical, height, and weight restrictions that are strictly enforced.
About Pleasure Pier
Hours of Pleasure Pier rides and attraction vary seasonally and are subject to change without notice.
Visitors to the pier must adhere to attire, behavior, and food and beverage policies as outlined on the Pleasure Pier website. Guests needing to bring formula for their infants must arrange this with a Guest Relations park representative before entering the pier. Pets are not permitted on the pier unless they are a papered service animal.
Guests can park in the premium lot for extra fees. Free parking is very limited in the area; however, most area hotels do offer shuttles to and from the pier. All attractions are wheel chair accessible, although strollers are not allowed in line at attractions nor is there a stroller parking station.
Rides and Amusements
Iron Shark Rollercoaster- This rollercoaster goes over 50 miles per hour over 1246 feet of track with loops and vertical drops and full inversions to delight guests.
Pirates Plunge- This log ride includes a 40 foot drop with many twists and turns. Guests and bystanders should expect to get wet on this ride.
Gulf Glider- A swing carousel with double and single seats that twirls 22 feet in the air.
Revolution- Soar 60 feet in the air while rotating on this 20-seat ride that rotates 9 times per minute and creates a sensation of flying across the Gulf.
Galaxy Wheel- A giant ferris wheel with LED lights that create a light display while in motion. The Ferris wheel is 100 feet tall and can accommodate 6 visitors per car.
Cyclone- A looping rollercoaster that takes guests 60 feet high and head over heels at 25 miles per hour.
Sea Dragon- This ride swings guests over the Gulf in a sea dragon ship 50 feet high.
Rock N Roll- Get tossed back and forth and round and round in this ride that increases speed as you go.
Sky Shooter- Control your own elevation through the push of a button on this ride that twists and rotates 8 vehicles.
Carousel- A classic carousel with two levels and artfully crafted horses, animals, and chariots. Children of all ages are welcome on this ride with accompaniment of an adult for young riders.
Big Wheeling- perfect for younger children, trucks go around a track for a fun joy ride.
Frog Hopper- Bounce up and down 22 feet in the air on this ride for kids and adults.
Texas Tea- Spin around in tea cups that also twirl around the track.
Pier Pileup- Bumper cars for adults and children alike.
Texas Star Flyer- These swings go 230 feet in the air while rotating over the pier.
Midway- These carnival games and activities are fun for the whole family with prizes to be won at almost all attractions just for participating.
Dining at Pleasure Pier
Pleasure Pier has many food choices for the whole family from restaurants and cafes to snack and alcohol carts found throughout the pier.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co- The first of its kind in Texas, this sit-down restaurant is world-famous with shrimp and ribs that are award winning. The dining is spacious with outdoor seating available on the patio overlooking the Gulf waters.
Fun Food- Food stations located near the carousel and throughout the pier offer burgers, pizza, turkey legs, funnel cakes, hot dogs, and beverages. Visit the Brew Station for margaritas, wine, and beer.
Fish Tales- Located across the street from the pier, this seafood restaurant is known for their crab stuffed flounder and fried gulf shrimp. The beachfront balcony offers outdoor seating with views of the Galveston Seawall.
Rainforest Café- this world-famous restaurant is just down the way from the pier with rainforest themed décor and classic American foods for the whole family.
Landry’s- This seafood and steak house is located near many attractions and hotels, offers an outdoor covered balcony and happy hour specials.
Willie G’s- Found on Pier 21, this elegant upscale restaurant serves steak and seafood and is the most visited restaurant in Galveston.
There are several retailers that are located at Pleasure Pier including Bubba Gump Retail with souvenirs created just for the Pleasure Pier visitors, candy shops, souvenir shops, and photo booths. In addition to retail shops there are several carts and kiosks throughout the pier with gifts and souvenirs for purchase.
