South Padre Island is a tropical barrier island in southeast Texas flanked by the Gulf of Mexico to the east and the Laguna Madre Bay to the west. The venue is rented as a blank slate, and couples may select approved vendors for tables, linen and chair rentals, music, lighting and décor to create a one-of-a-kind event. 2.Casa Mariposa Event Venue and Villas

Casa Mariposa is a unique wedding and event venue featuring Mexican style adobe architecture, an interior colonial courtyard surrounded by fountains and tropical gardens, and hand carved mahogany doors. The villa includes three private bedrooms with private baths, and a master suite in the main home. Weddings can host up to 200 guests, and unique packages include oceanfront ceremonies on the sand. Reception spaces include an upstairs terrace for small parties, the patio and courtyard space for larger groups. Guests can lounge indoors in the villa, or swing in the hammocks surrounding the courtyard. The villa backs up to the Valley Land Fund Birding Sanctuary, and a variety of colorful migratory birds frequently visit the home’s back porch.

3.Chapel by the Sea
South Padres Island’s Chapel by the Sea is a multi-denominational place of worship that has been serving the community since 1980. The non-profit Christian chapel is managed by a board of directors, rather than church members. The chapel invites couples of any Christian denomination to have their ceremony there. All music at before, during and after the ceremony is under the direction of the church’s organist. The presiding Chaplain may also travel to beach weddings, or any other location. Couples must apply The light-filled church seats up to 200 guests, and is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows for a panoramic views of South Padre on each side, even behind the main altar.

4.Clayton’s Beach Bar
Clayton’s is home of the “biggest beach bar in Texas.” The bar and grill serve casual burgers, seafood and Mexican food. Popular drinks include their signature margarita and turbo pina colada. The bar is known for its live music and hosts concerts nearly every night of the summer, spring break and major holiday weekends. Clayton’s hosts the country’s largest free springs break music festival. Additional signature events include Run the Jailbreak, a 5k obstacle race with traditional afterparty at Clayton’s. Sandcastle Days is a sand-castle building tradition dating back 30 years, now attended by over 30,000 guests who enjoy live music at Clayton’s all day. The Polar Bear Dip takes place each New Year’s Day with live music and a costume contest.

6.Longboard Bar and Grill
Longboard Bar and Grill is a restaurant and night life hot spot in South Padre Island’s south entertainment district. The 9,000 square foot open air venue on the Laguna Madre bay offers spectacular South Padre sunset viewing, and in the summer months, guests can enjoy a view of the fireworks over the water. Ongoing events include Country Music Saturdays and LatinNights on Sundays. The casual bar menu serves burgers, seafood and specialty drinks. The bar’s local owners have restaurant experience from the nearby Meatball Café, and own and operate Southern Wave Catamaran Charters as well. Sailboats may pull into the dock directly in front of the Longboard Bar and Grill.

Louie’s Backyard is a unique South Padre Island sports bar and nightclub, also available for private events. Banquet rooms are suitable for parties of 25 to 500. South Texas’ largest sport’s bar, Louie’s offers 65 high definition televisions and ten extra large screens. At the southern tip of South Padre Island is the Pearl, a resort hotel offering sandy beaches, tropical breezes and views of the ocean from every room. South Padre Island’s Convention Center is a contemporary 45,000 square foot event space with a central downtown location. The facility can accommodate group of 20 to 2,500 for events and is best know for hosting an annual college basketball tournament, the South Padre Island Invitational. The convention center is managed by the island’s visitor’s bureau, which offers assistance planning weddings and events. From permits for beach weddings, to marriage license information and officiants, to venues, hotels and caterers, the convention and visitor’s bureau offers a comprehensive listing of suggested vendors. 10.SPI Equestrian and Events Center
South Padre Island’s Equestrian and Events Center offers horseback riding on the beach at sunrise and sunset, polo lessons, and The Stables, a membership-based polo club. The center offers classes on horsemanship, including general horse care, grooming and safety, as well as polo lessons for members of The Stables. The public is welcome for beach rides or classes, from ages 6 and upward. Groups are kept small for the safety of the guests, and the well-trained quarter horses are suitable for riders of all levels. The center is host to several equestrian events year round, including the USPA Women’s Challenge Polo Tournament and Polo on Padre each spring.

The Inn at South Padre is a family and pet-friendly hotel centrally located within walking distance to many of the area’s beaches, shopping areas, restaurants and bars. 13.South Padre Island Nature and Birding Center
The South Padre Island Nature and Birding Center is the premier bird watching destination within the Rio Grande Valley. The coastal island and Laguna Madre bay are home to a variety of native and migrating species. Attractions at the center include a 3,300 foot long board walk for walking among the marshes and wetlands, bird blinds, and a 5-story bird viewing tower. The location may be rented for weddings, parties and events that wish to take advantage of the beautiful sunsets and breathtaking scenery. Ceremonies and receptions may be staged outdoors along the boardwalk and the center’s back deck, or indoors in the auditorium, which can seat up to 100 guests. 14.Hilton Garden Inn South Padre Island
South Padre Island’s Hilton Garden Inn is an ocean-front hotel with swimming pool, restaurant and bar, and over 12,000 square feet of space for weddings and events.
