Missouri City is a charming suburb of Houston that was first developed following the implementation of the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos, and Colorado Railway in the mid-19th century, the first standard-gauge railroad west of the Mississippi River. Throughout the late 20th century, the community was recognized as a model community development for affluent African-Americans following an influx of middle-class African-Americans from Houston in the 1980s. Today, it has received the Texas Gold Medal Award for its 393 acres of gorgeous public parks, which are home to facilities like the renowned Sienna Stables equestrian facility. Several of Houston's top-rated golf courses are located within the community, including the two gorgeous courses of golf community subdivision Quail Valley. Certain attractions may be temporarily closed or require advance reservations. Some restaurants are currently offering pickup only. Hours/availability may have changed.
