Coppell is a city in the northwest end of Dallas County in Texas. From the small farming community settled by German and French immigrants in the 19th century, with the growth of Dallas in the 1980s and 1990s Coppell grew into a large, upper-middle class suburban community. It is now a suburb of Dallas and a bedroom community in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Coppell Nature Park preserves a natural area within Wagon Wheel Park, a home to 130 species of birds and many wild animals. Theatre Coppell is a lively, very active community theatre run mostly by volunteers. 1.Coppell Nature Park
Coppell Nature Park is a 66-acre nature reserve located within Wagon Wheel Park in Coppell, Texas. The Park is a natural habitat for hawks, coyotes, bobcats and many other animals. There are also more than 130 different species of birds that migrate through the park every year. The park is home to many types of native vegetation. There is a network of about five miles of trails for hikers to explore. The Biodiversity Education Center at Coppell Nature Park was established to provide hands-on environmental education with a range of programs for school and the community. Participants have opportunity to observe and learn about local plants, animals and environmental sustainability.

Theatre Coppell is a 124-seat community theater located in a former firehouse in Coppell, Texas. The theatre was established in 1980 by a group of volunteers under the name Coppell Community Theatre and under the guidance of Wheelice Wilson Jr., a theatre teacher at Coppell High School. The theatre was presenting comedies, dramas and musicals at schools and other locations in the area. The first two shows were “Mostly Music” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” In 1999, the City of Coppell converted an unused fire station to the Coppell Center for the Arts, where Theatre Coppell now works. Ms. Wilson Jr. is now the artistic director, responsible for selecting shows, organizing volunteers and directing most of the shows. The show presents six shows each season - several family-friendly options, one musical and one or more production with young cast members.

The Trinity River is 710 miles long and runs all the way through the State of Texas into the Gulf of Mexico. In the Dallas area, along the Trinity River is the Great Trinity Forest, a 10,000 acres of dense urban forest, a home of bobcats, beavers, hawk, herons and many other animals. The fishing on the river is superb. All that makes kayaking on Trinity River one of the most wonderful activities in the Dallas area. Trinity River Kayak Co, operating since 2013, offers kayaking trips on 22 miles of the river’s Elm Fork of the Trinity River. You can choose your kayaking adventure from Lake Lewisville Dam to California Crossing Dam. All kayaking trips start at their base in Coppell, Texas, where clients are shuttled back after the trip. They also rent out kayaks to those who prefer to paddle on their own.
