Sandy is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range. Sandy was settled in 1853 and named after Sandy River that flows nearby. The city is the western gateway to the Mount Hood Corridor, and is located only about 27 miles from Portland. The best place to learn about the history of Sandy is Sandy Historical Museum. The museum features exhibits that talk about pioneer history and experience in the Sandy Area, Oregon Trail School District and other surrounding areas. Completed in 2007, the Sandy Historical Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the pioneer history and experience in the Sandy Area, Oregon Trail School District and other surrounding areas. The museum has a range of exhibits with photos and artifacts dating back to the mid-1800s. The museum tells the story about the historic Barlow Road. The museum sits on Pioneer Boulevard, once a part of the original Barlow Road. The museum has an exhibit on the founding family Francis and Lydia Revenue, a historical display of the logging industry from the mid 1800's and many other fascinating displays. The museum includes a library of historical data and is available for research or just enjoyment.

2.Rainbow Trout Farm, Sandy, Oregon
For the last 65 years, Rainbow Trout Farm was the place where Northwesterners went for pay fishing. Generations of folks from all over Oregon and Washington have fished at Rainbow, and not only fishing but eating tons of trout in the process. The farm’s ten ponds were originally dug by hand in 1932, but Rainbow Trout Farm was established only in 1982. The new owners Mike and Marti Kaiser made some major restorations, cleared brush, built trails and restored buildings. Today Rainbow Trout Farm guests can enjoy about 30 acres of ponds, meadows and forests. The cedar and brick Hospitality Room is located at water’s edge and is available for special events. Rainbow Trout Farm is great place for a family weekend. It is great pleasure watching kids catching their first fish. The farm is located about seven miles from Sandy, Oregon. Poles and tackle are provided if you do not bring your own. The farm staff will even clean the fish for you.
