Settled first during the 1600’s, Smithtown, New York is a town situated on Long Island. It’s name came from a local legend, which says that after a settler named Richard Smith rescued the daughter of a Native American chief, he was given all of the land he could circle on a bull in a single day. According to legend, Smith picked the year’s longest day to ride the bull and acquired what is now known as Smithtown. The town today offers numerous things to do for both visitors and locals alike.
