Located in Erie County, the town of Grand Island, New York gets its name from the French “La Grande Île” since Grand Island being the Niagara River’s largest island, as well as New York State’s third largest island. The town has been a home of the Attawandaron Nation, along with being a part of both English and French colonial pursuits. Grand Island today has become a popular place for outdoor recreation activities, home to both Buckhorn Island State Park and Beaver Island State Park. Visitors can also find plenty of opportunities for fishing in the area. CDC information for travelers. Hours/availability may have changed.
