Situated in the heart of North Carolina’s winery-filled Yadkin Valley, the town of Hamptonville and the surrounding area is an ideal place for any wine enthusiasts to spend a day or two. Several vineyards and wineries can be found in Hamptonville itself, such as Laurel Gray and Dobbins Creek, and quite a few more just a short drive away. Visitors may also spot Amish buggies, as a small community of Amish settled in Hamptonville during the 1980’s, and the Amish Shiloh General Store is a popular place in town for a variety of food and picnic lunches. Certain attractions may be temporarily closed or require advance reservations. Some restaurants are currently offering pickup only. Hours/availability may have changed.

The Laurel Gray Vineyard and Winery, located in the middle of the Yadkin Valley, specializes in creating estate-grown French wines and is part of the Swan Creek AVA. This “Southern winery and vineyard” is situated on land that has been cared for by the Myers family for more than eight generations. More than ten years ago, Kim and Benny Myers planted grapes and transformed their farm’s milking parlor into a winery tasting room for visitors. The vineyard is named after the couple’s two children: Taylor Gray and Ashley Laurel. The winery also features a farm pond, picnic tables, and a covered veranda.
