Located at the point where two canyons meet, the village of Tijeras aptly takes its name from the Spanish word for scissors. Here you will find the Tijeras Canyon leading west towards Albuquerque, while the Cedro Canyon leads south towards the Manzano Mountains. The area offers outstanding hiking along a large selection of trails through remarkable scenery. You can encounter diverse habitats such as sheer-walled dry canyons and the densely forested Cibola National Forest. The area was settled by pueblo Indians over 700 years ago and visitors can tour the Tijeras Pueblo Archaeological Site and Museum. Molly’s Bar is the place to go for a drink and great live music. CDC information for travelers. Hours/availability may have changed.
