Lakewood is the largest town in Ocean County, situated about 60/70 miles from both Philadelphia and NYC. Once a popular playground for the rich and famous, Lakewood is still home to historic attractions like Ocean County Park, which was once the setting for the Rockefeller Mansion, and the 19th century winter home of George Jay Gould. Back in the day The Strand Theatre was a popular entertainment venue for visitors and today you can still enjoy the renovated theatre’s outstanding acoustics. For some outdoor recreation you can visit Allaire State Park or Forge Pond or go cycling along the Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway. CDC information for travelers. Hours/availability may have changed.
