The Rocky Gorge is considered to be one of the must-see attractions for travelers along New Hampshire’s Kancamagus Highway. A well admired waterfall, this 15-foot cascading wonder is a popular spot among swimmers, photographs, and other types of visitors. Even though there are sometimes crowds around the Rocky Gorge, the waterfall is highly photogenic, set on a sunny and open river, and is a place in Bartlett that’s worth the visit. A short distance from the waterfall is a bridge that gives a good perspective for photographs. Swimming at the gorge itself isn’t allowed, however, it is permitted downstream from the waterfall.

Ripley Falls near the town of Bartlett, New Hampshire in the scenic Crawford Notch State Park is a gorgeous waterfall measuring approximately one hundred feet, cascading over a wall of smooth rock. This rock wall is set at around a sixty-degree angle, which causes the rushing water to keep in contact with the rock throughout much of its flowing descent. The temporary, short periods of water jumping away from the rock make Ripley Falls as a whole one of New England’s steepest-angled slides. The somewhat twisting slide of the falls creates an interesting curtain pattern with the waterflow.
