Housed in Montana’s first Labor Temple, the Carbon County Historical Society and Museum showcases the history of the Carbon County area and includes a collection of a wide variety of items, such as Indian artifacts, the Waples family projectile point and historic gun collection, and the rodeo legends Greenough and Linderman family collection. Among the exhibits throughout the Carbon County Historical Society Museum are interactive hard rock and coal mine exhibits among several others. The staff also helps with historic and family genealogy research and there is a gift shop with Old West, Montana, and Carbon County gifts and historical books.

The Beartooth Basin, a "bare bones" summer ski area, lies on approximately six hundred acres above the Twin Lakes Headwall just outside of the town or Red Lodge in Montana. The area is one of the oldest ski training areas in North America and is usually open to the public for skiing from late May through the early part of July. Two high-speed poma lifts serve the ski area, providing skiers with access to three thousand feet of ideal terrain. While opened to the public, the Beartooth Basin is designed more towards intermediate and advanced abilities for snowboarding and skiing.
