In 1942 the Library outgrew its original location and moved to the McWhorter house, now the educational building of the Presbyterian Church. The Library had more room, more books, and more paid help. The current building at 9800 Pontiac Trail was opened on May 2, 1998 with 15,000 square feet of space, capable of accommodating up to 60,000 books. In 2009, the Library added 5,000 square feet to accommodate a teen wing, computer lab, and staff space. The parking lot was enlarged and a drive-up book return was added.
