Napili Kai Beach Resort located on the sunny west coast of Maui, Hawaii, has all of the facilities expected of a family resort: numerous activities that can be enjoyed by family members of all ages, a beautiful sandy beach and a choice of condo-style accommodations. All of the buildings are low-rise and the atmosphere is very relaxed. It also offers something that is not often found at vacation resorts - a unique family atmosphere among the resort staff.
You'll notice that the resort staff wear name tags that include the length of time they've worked here. Many employees have worked at the resort for 15 to 20 years. If you are looking for a vacation destination where your family can return year after year and be greeted by someone they already know, this unique resort is such a place.
The bay appears almost untouched by the recent development of land that has taken place on West Maui. One of the founders, Jack Millar, had the foresight to form a separate zone for Napili Bay in 1964 and thereby ensured that no building can be higher than a tree and that buildings are built in Hawaiian style.
The resort offers an array of activities to its guests, most of which are complimentary. Lei making, hula lessons and Mai Tai parties are scheduled on throughout the week.
There are four swimming pools, a heated whirlpool and an 18-hole putting green. Complimentary sports and beach equipment can be rented at Makai Hale, including masks and snorkels. The resort offers some adult-only activities, such as the Putting Party with 50¢ drinks and adult lei making lessons.
Relax by the Pool
The largest pool is located steps from the beautiful bay and the Sea House Restaurant. You can spend your days relaxing by the pool, walking along the beach and indulging in a relaxing massage at Makai Massage & Bodywork just around the corner. Or pick or a putter and practice some golf on the adjacent 18-hole putting green.
The other tree swimming pools are located next to guest buildings. The layout is convenient for those who want to be close to their rooms, enjoy a family barbeque and sunbathe by the pool. Water aerobic is offered in the Lani pool. Guests can sign up at he Makai Hale. A large whirlpool is located behind the Sea House Restaurant. Kids ages 4-16 are allowed in the pool from 9am to sundown.
Unlike so many resorts on Maui, Napili Kai does not charge a fee for its children's program. The program is available to children ages 6-12 from mid-June to the end of August, during Easter and Christmas. Kids can spend two to three hours per day playing Hawaiian games, hula dancing, lei making and listening to Hawaiian stories. Both kids and grown-ups can participate in Parent/Child Putting Contests.
