City Wine Tours first began offering tours in Cambridge, MA in 2011. The goal of the wine tour company, the first of its kind, is to make learning about wine as much fun as it is to drink it. Daniel Andrew co-founded the company after his enjoyable experience at a wine tasting in Boston's North End. He wanted to create a wine tour that anyone could experience and enjoy. The company is staffed by wine experts from New York City and Boston, who collectively possess every possible wine certification. During the wine tours, participants will learn how to buy, pair, and taste different wines in a relaxed atmosphere.
The South End Wine Tour offers a taste of the sophistication and diversity of the city's artistic community, where guests will enjoy wines from Latin America, Italy, and France. A charismatic, friendly win ambassador will guide participants to the area's hot spots where pre-selected wines will be served as guests learn how to pair, taste, and buy wine with a small group. Six different wines will be sampled during the tour over about two hours. This tour is offered twice every Saturday afternoon, at 3:00pm and 4:00pm.
The North End Wine Tour explores the oldest neighborhood in Boston as guests sample Italian wines. This area has been the center of "boot-crazed" epicureanism and fine dining for more than one hundred years. The tour is led by a charismatic and friendly wine ambassador, and like the other tours, they will teach participants how to pair, taste, and buy wines. During the two hour tour, six different wines will be sampled in a small group setting. This tour is offered at three different times every Saturday afternoon, and once on every Sunday afternoon.
City Wine Tours' Sparkling Wine Tour features samples of Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and more. A charismatic, friendly win ambassador will guide participants to the area's hot spots where pre-selected wines will be served as guests learn how to pair, taste, and buy wine with a small group. Six different wines will be sampled during the tour over about two hours. This tour is offered every Saturday at 3:00pm in Harvard Square.
The Back Bay Wine Tour is similar to City Wine Tours' other tours in length and number of wine samples. Like with the others, it is led by a friendly wine ambassador who will instruct participants on how to buy, pair, and taste wines. Back Bay is home to some of Boston's most luxurious restaurants and is the city's most affluent neighborhood. This tour is offered once every Saturday and Sunday and provides guests with a chance to see the wine cellars and kitchens of the restaurants with a glass of wine in their hand.
City Wine Tours also offers a wine tour of Assembly Row, the newest transit-oriented destination in Boston. Everything is seemingly just minutes away from the area. The tour is offered once every Saturday afternoon. This tour is also led by a charismatic wine expert, who will lead guests to the hot spots of Assembly Row. During the two hours, participants will learn how to taste and pair wines with samples of six different wines.
