Brookside Gardens in Montgomery County, MD is an award-winning display garden that spans fifty acres within Wheaton Regional Park. The gardens consist of a number of different themed gardens. These themed gardens include the Children's Garden, Rain Garden, Aquatic Garden, Japanese Garden, the Woodland Walk, Butterfly Garden, Azalea Garden, Rose Garden, and Trial Garden. Formal Gardens at Brookside include a Fragrance Garden, the Maple Terrace, Yew Garden, and Perennial Garden. The Gardens also feature a Visitor Center, horticultural reference library, and two conservatories.

Designed to encourage guests to take their first step towards a healthier lifestyle, the Heart Smart Trail program offers an easy way for people to start a habit of walking to improve their health. The Heart Smart Trails are typically one mile or less in length, and follow a level, hard surfaced path. Embedded into the path every one-tenth of a mile are bronze medallions to make it easier for walkers to keep track of how far they have walked. The trail, located within Wheaton Regional Park, follows a popular path around the fifty-acre Brookside Gardens. Open sunrise to sunset, year-round, the Heart Smart Trail starts behind the Visitors Center.
