Everyone knows that the city of Las Vegas is all about extravagance. From the flashy, flamboyant hotels to those casinos that never sleep, Sin City is one of those special places in the world that can overload your senses and make you feel more alive than ever before. With that in mind, your next trip to Vegas simply has to include a ride on the Rio Hotel's Voodoo zip line, one of the most exciting, astounding, and breathtaking zip line experiences in the whole of the United States.
An adrenaline-fueled thrill ride like no other, the Rio zip line sends you flying 500ft in the sky between two of the Rio hotel's tallest towers. It's an incredible experience, not for the faint of heart, providing simply awesome views of the city itself and the stunning Nevada desert beyond. Unlike other zip lines, the Rio zip line gives visitors a 2-in-1 experience. Not only do you ride it all the way from one tower to the other; you also ride it back up to the starting position too. So if you’ve never done a zip line backwards, that’s just one extra reason to give the Rio zip line a try.
The Rio Zip Line Experience
The Rio hotel needs no introduction. As one of the landmark structures in Las Vegas, the huge hotel and casino is well-known all over the world for its vibrant Brazilian theme and incredible size, as well as being the host hotel for the famous World Series of Poker tournaments. The towers of the hotel can be seen all around Las Vegas, and the Rio zip line lets guests glide between two of the tallest buildings, taking in the sights and sounds of Sin City from 500 feet in the air, offering a full 360 degree view of the surroundings.
The entire experience lasts little more than a minute, but it's an incredible zip line, offering memories that will be with you forever. The trip sets off from the Voodoo Lounge at the very top of the Rio Hotel's Masquerade tower. From there, guests will jet off on an approximately 30-second trip along 800 feet of cable to the Ipanema tower, reaching speeds of over 30mph. The right doesn't end there, however, as riders will then be sent backwards all the way up to the start line. The entire journey measures up at around one third of a mile.
What really sets the Rio zip line apart from so many others is how unique it is. While plenty of great zip lines send you soaring through forests or over lakes, the Rio zip line offers a completely fresh experience that you won't be able to find anywhere else in the world. Vegas is a special place and the Rio zip line is a very special experience, allowing visitors to experience a bird's-eye view of one of the most vibrant cities on Earth. There’s nothing quite like it, and visitors do have the option of taking the zip line in the daytime or the evening, providing two very different experiences that are both worth seeing.
The Rio zip line is open all year long, running between 11am and 11pm on Monday through Thursday and staying open an hour later on Friday through Sunday. There are some age, height, and weight limits to be aware of. After 7:30pm, riders must be 21 or older. Riders are allowed to take the zip line solo or with a companion, and their combined weights cannot exceed 450lbs. Each individual rider must weigh less than 300lbs and measure at least 48" in height, and friends and family are allowed to stand by and spectate from the Voodoo Rooftop.
Visitors need to show ID to prove their age and sign a form before taking the zip line; guests are also asked to leave any loose items behind before riding the line. Professional photos will also be taken of each rider and can be purchased as a fun souvenir, and individual tickets to ride can be purchased several months in advance, with a dozen rides taking place each day. Early rides give visitors the chance of seeing the city of Las Vegas and all of the surrounding landscape bathed in beautiful sunlight, while the night trips present the unique option of taking in the city with all of its millions of lights switched on and flashing. The choice is yours, and any ride on the Rio zip line will prove to be an unforgettable experience.
