The eatery’s bestsellers feature a range of both sweet and savory breakfast fares cooked from scratch. Must-try fares include Timi’s Benny, a decadent version of eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles, breakfast burritos, and Doo-Dah’s Triple D, which includes the Benny, banana bread French toast, and crispy corned beef hash.
According to the Urban Dictionary, Doo-dah is a nickname for Wichita, Kansas. The origin of the word is unknown but perhaps it implies the laidback, whimsical attitude that is unmistakably present in the city's way of life.
Patrick and Timirie Shibley
The Doo-Dah Diner was established in 2012 by native Wichitans, Chef Patrick and Timirie Shibley. The couple wanted to introduce a casual breakfast and lunch eatery that showcases Wichita's signature laidback vibe. Chef Patrick pursued his culinary stints in Denver, Northern California, Cincinnati, Lawrence, and Kansas City before returning home to open his dream restaurant.
Doo-Dah Diner is open 5 days a week, Wednesday through Friday from 7:00am to 2:00pm, while on Saturdays and Sundays the restaurant operates from 8:00am to 2:00pm. The restaurant remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The breakfast menu, served anytime, consists of crab cake Benedict, chicken 'n' waffles, gluten-free banana bread French toast, Doo-Dah steak 'n' eggs, crispy corned beef hash, fried bologna and egg sandwich, Tanya's Benny, pancakes, the Triple D, biscuits and sausage gravy, chicken-fried steak and eggs, normal French toast, steel-cut oatmeal, the Brutus, Greek vanilla yogurt and fruit parfait, smothered breakfast burrito, omelets, and a build-your-own breakfast option.
Along with chicken and egg noodles, chicken-fried steak, the Bat Out Of Hell meatloaf, and beefy Doo-dad, the lunch menu consists of other menu varieties like;
· Burgers and Sandwiches - Includes the Outside In Burger, the Muffuletta, hamburger, turkey focaccia, grilled chicken sandwich, salmon club sandwich, the Reuben, prime French dip, fried bologna sandwich, and the BLT A+, which is white Italian bread with a generous portion of maple pepper bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo .
· Soups and Salads - Doo-Dah salad, soup and salad combo, side salad, soup of the day, house-made dressings, spinach salad, and Doo-Dah chili with ground beef
· Desserts - bread pudding, root beer float, and malts and shakes made with an option of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or caramel
The restaurant’s Doo-Dah Diary features some of the recognitions and awards won by the diner. The restaurant won the award for Wichita's Best Breakfast of 2015. The diary also features unique news, wherein a kind customer tipped the diner’s waiter to cover his dental surgery.
