The first submerged resort in the world is currently under construction by Poseidon Undersea Resorts in Fiji. This futuristic resort will offer guest suites, a restaurant, underwater bar, underwater spa, a library, a conference room, a wedding chapel and a theater.
New Acrylic Techniques
Poseidon has been cooperating with the worlds' leading acrylic provider to find the perfect acrylic manufacturing techniques that will allow bonding joints virtually invisible to the human eye. This means that guests will be able to enjoy unobstructed views of the fantastic undersea life.
Undersea suites will have huge acrylic domes above the beds and sitting areas, letting you enjoy the ever-moving live show 24-hours a day. 70% of the exterior of the suite is transparent, so you can be sure that the view will be unbelievable.
You will feel like you are living in an underwater fantasy land, surrounded by tropical fish, coral growing inches from the edge of the dome. The suites are spacious and modern, decorated in minimalist style in order to not take away from the real attraction, the surrounding ocean. You will be able to relax in a luxurious jacuzzi tub with views of the ocean.
Each suite will offer an external fish feeder: with a push a button you will be able to release food which will attract even more colorful tropical fish.
While many facilities will be underwater, guests will have access to the beautiful Poseidon Mystery Island which measures 225 acres in size and is about a mile long.
For the adventurous at heart, the resort will offer deep submersibles that can be used to explore the border between the lagoon and the virgin deep waters along the edge. A personal pilot will teach you how to pilot a 3-person submersible.
Poseidon Mystery Island is surrounded by a 5,000-acre (7.8-square-mile) lagoon and pristine waters that go up to 90 feet (27.4 meters) in depth. Sea life is plentiful, offering abundant opportunity for snorkeling, scuba diving and other water sports.
On shore, the resort will have a restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, more spa treatment rooms, hydrotherapy center, gift shop, tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course and a marina.
The dive shop will feature a recompression chamber.
The undersea restaurant at Poseidon will seat 64 guests at a time and serve gourmet dishes from around the world.
Two undersea spa treatment rooms will offer unparalleled views and a diverse menu of treatments.
The resort will only be able to take 7,200 reservations per year. In fact, so many travelers have already expressed interest that the company has started several potential locations for the second resort. According to an article in the Daily Mail, a stay at Poseidon will cost $15,000 per person for one week.
Guests will enter the resort through an elevator. The submerged interior will be maintained at the atmospheric pressure, making it appropriate for guests of all ages. The resort will have a private plane to fly guests to and from Nadi International Airport on the main island of Viti Levu.
