Restaurants and Room Service
There are three dining options on-site at the Oberoi, Mauritius. The restaurants to choose from include: The Restaurant, The Gunpowder Room and On the Rocks. Each has it’s own unique charm and elegance, while offering fine cuisine.
The Restaurant may dote a simple, plain name but it is far from the ordinary. It is a formal setting with both thatched-roof pavilion dining and al fresco depending on guests’ preferences. The Creole, Asian, and International cuisine offers something to please every palate. Guests will love the views of the Indian Ocean right from their outdoor tables. The Restaurant is open for both breakfast and dinner daily. The menu also includes an extensive vegetarian selection which guests won’t find elsewhere on Mauritius.
The Gunpowder Room is a luxury restaurant set in a historic 18th century national monument. It can seat up to 12 adults (6 couples) per seating and can also be booked for private dinners, served by personal butlers. The menu rotates by day to offer both Creole and Japanese dishes. The Gunpowder Room also hosts rum and wine tasting events each week.
On the Rocks is a unique dining experience, which places guests excitingly close the ocean. It is set upon volcanic rock which also extend out into the ocean where guests are seated above the crashing waves. They can almost dip their toes in the water, that is how close the restaurant is to the waters. On the Rocks serves a delicious menu of fresh seafood on their grill, as well as pasta, salad and pizza baked in their wood-fire oven. The chef will even cook up guests’ fish if they have been successful fishing that day. They are open for lunch and dinner daily.
Guests can choose to indulge in one of the private, intimate dining experiences available at the Oberoi, which include reserving a private dinner on the shores of the beach or champagne breakfast on the beach, or even a private dinner reservation at The Gunpowder Room.
For guests wishing to dine in the privacy of their own pavilion or villa, room service is available at an additional charge and their portion sizes are very generous.
