The Old Idaho Penitentiary State Historic Site is a National Register of Historic Places-listed site in Boise that formerly housed Idaho's Territorial Prison from 1872 to 1973. Today, the site has been converted into a museum and arboretum complex, owned and operated by the Idaho State Historical Society. 30 historic buildings are showcased throughout the complex, many of which are available for private special event rental, including as wedding ceremony and reception sites. Unique event sites available for rental include the complex's Shirt Factory Building, Women's Ward, and Idaho Room and Gem State Gateway. The venue's main yard and grounds can also be rented for outdoor weddings, providing a unique backdrop for vows and wedding photography.
