FoodInRoot operates events and farmers' markets throughout the Tucson, Arizona area. They combine community, fun, passion, and food together to create memorable experiences. The company was started with the idea of making it easier for people to get information about the food they purchase. Almost everyone has questions about the food they buy, from mothers buying food for their families to chefs ordering ingredients for their restaurants. FoodInRoot

It can be challenging when shopping at the grocery store to find out where the food available comes from, and almost impossible to find out anything about the farm, such as if the farm meets organic farming standards. FoodInRoot believes the solution is an easy one: buy local. Buying local allows people to ask the questions they have about the food they want to buy and often get answers from the farmers themselves. The company is working to help existing farmers' markets thrive, as well as to help new ones grow, and to build a better blueprint for markets. Farmer's markets provide fresher and usually better tasting food, create better sustainability, promote health and wellness, and boost the local economy.

The number of farmers' markets has grown throughout the country as a result of increasing demand for better, healthier, and fresher food. FoodInRoot uses technology to help farmers' markets become better by assisting in improving the convenience, accessibility, and enjoyment of shopping at a local farmers' market. They are creating a platform to help these markets thrive around the United States. Their system is now being tested in Tucson, opening new farmers' markets in underserved communities. The idea is to streamline the way for a farmers' market to serve the market vendors, patrons, and coordinators better. FoodInRoot's markets still have the feel and all of the fun of a traditional farmers' market, but with a touch that's uniquely modern. FoodInRoot also takes part in 2nd Saturdays Downtown. The event takes place in the heart of Downtown Tucson the second Saturday of each month. 2nd Saturdays Downtown starts at 2:00pm and ends at 8:00pm. Photo: FoodInRoot
