Situated in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Eldorado Hotel & Spa is a 30-year-old testament to the famed legend of Eldorado – the city of gold. The AAA Four Diamond, pet-friendly hotel is located within walking distance of local attractions such as museums and art galleries.

The design of the 219-room hotel is fashioned after the Pueblo Revival Style, which is prevalent in New Mexico. Here guests may marvel at southwest furniture that was crafted by hand, kiva fireplaces, and an impressive collection of art. The hotel is dotted with large and small luxuries such as New Mexico artifacts and other heritage items that add to the authenticity of the hotel.

Following a recent update, the Eldorado Hotel & Spa asked Randy Barton and other artists to design 75 new paintings for the updated rooms. These artworks serve as a visual means to educate guests about Navajo mythology.

Dining at Eldorado

The Old House Restaurant is a Zagat-designated venue, and has been awarded the Wine Spectator’s Ward of Excellence in 2014. Here the cuisine boasts contemporary flavors that are created with seasonal and local ingredients procured from the artisan farms in the area. The executive chef at the restaurant is Chef Anthony Smith, who hails from London. He oversees all kitchens at the Old House Restaurant, while also catering to the 20,000 square feet that makes up the meeting spaces.

Dry throats are soothed at the Agave Lounge, a bar that features light snack fare, cocktails, and a variety of wines. Share a plate while sipping on a signature cocktail while the hip surroundings set the scene for a night out in downtown Santa Fe. Entertainment is also provided by the flat screen TVs.

As the focal point of the hotel, this lounge is packed with entertainment ideas that turn it into an ideal meeting space and impromptu living room. There is a menu here that hails from the Basque region found in Spain, and it takes palates on a South American journey. Here the wine list showcases the flavors of the world, while the occasional special guest pops in to provide live entertainment.

Guests are encouraged to gather in the heart of the hotel and share a bite with fellow travelers or friends. The extensive cocktail menu draws inspiration from the Spanish, where spicy wine flavors were the order of the day. Picture sipping on a sangria or another wine based drink, or settle for the traditional with a martini that serves a tribute to the prohibition era.
