Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley has a luxurious spa, fine dining and rooms with a view. The inn is set on the slopes of Rutherford Hill, surrounded by a 33-acre olive grove. Situated just 65 miles north of San Francisco, the hotel is a relaxing weekend getaway from the city.

The Spa

Spa du Soleil is the hotel's newest addition, complete with private gardens, infinity-edge soaking pools and a unique menu of treatments inspired by the vineyards and gardens of the region.

The Melisse Spa Suite, designed especially for couples, has a fireplace, private tanning deck and a heated pool overlooking the Valley.

Things to Do

The hotel has a swimming pool, whirlpool, steam rooms and fitness center. You can also play a game of tennis on the tennis court.

Nearby activities include golf, horseback riding, hiking and biking. Visit the towns of St. Helena and Calistoga which are home to several museums, art galleries, boutiques, wine and antique shops.

Rooms & Suites

The 50 one- and two-bedroom suites are decorated in Mediterranean-inspired style with original contemporary art, Italian linens and down bedding. The private outdoor terraces have views of the valley.

For a special indulgence on your romantic getaway, book one of the private cottages with French doors that open out onto a terrace with a sunken jetted hot-tub. The living room has a fireplace and a dining alcove, ideal for romantic candlelit dinners.

Where to Eat

The property was first a restaurant and then a hotel when it first opened more than 20 years ago. The 120-seat restaurant features innovative menus inspired by fresh produce grown in the Napa Valley.

For a more casual meal, the bar adjacent to the restaurant serves lighter fare and offers outdoor seating on the wraparound deck with views of the valley.

Take a calming walk down the garden paths through the outdoor I. Wolk Sculpture Gallery which showcases 110 figurative and abstract works by Californian artists, all of which are available for purchase.

The Restaurant

Late summer and fall is a great time to visit the Restaurant to sample some of the best seasonal culinary delights. The restaurant is run by Executive Chef Robert Curry who has worked and trained with restaurant legends such as Wolfgang Puck and Alain Ducasse. In addition to great food, the Restaurant offers Sommelier Kris Margerum’s wine list featuring the best of Napa Valley. Request one of the outdoor tables which overlook olive groves and vineyards. A four-course dinner from $90 per person.
