Owned and run by husband-and-wife duo Francis Allen and Leslie Lovell since 2014, the Roots Up Gallery in Savannah is a fascinating place for artwork that features a plethora of handicrafts by local and regional artists who specialize in self-taught and outsider art. These local artists are motivated by their intrinsic need to create artwork and do not follow any popular art movements.

The gallery is a perfect place to find handmade paintings, ceramics, pottery, mixed media, jewelry, folk art, and relics and artifacts from the South. The gallery also features an array of Savannah's gourmet Southern food products like hot sauces, Bloody Mary mixes, ginger syrups, and ginger-infused honey as well as several other Savannah Bee Company products.

The Roots Up Gallery features more than 200 art pieces contributed by over 40 artists, mainly from Georgia and the Southeast. If you are looking for something made by local artists, you will find a great variety here with prices ranging from $10 to $5,000.
