The College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia is a 45-yard indoor football arena inside of a 95,000-square foot facility housing over 50 exhibits serving as a shrine to college football’s greatest legends.
The College Football Hall of Fame was founded in 1951 by the National Football Foundation to honor the greatest players and coaches in collegiate football. There are less than 1,300 inducted into the hall currently out of the 5.1 million people that have participated in the game making induction into the Hall of Fame very selective.
The first location of the Hall of Fame was in Kings Mill Ohio. The location was open from 1978-1992 before reopening in 1995 in South Bend, Indiana where it remained open until 2012. It was not until 2014 that the College Football Hall of Fame was finally reopened at its new, permanent location in Atlanta, Georgia in the $68.5 million indoor football stadium with a 95,000-square foot, state-of-the-art museum facility to honor the 977 players and 211 coaches that are currently inducted.
The Hall of Fame and Chick-Fil-A Fan Experience are part of the Atlanta sports and tourism district, just outside of Centennial Olympic Park, nearby many other popular Atlanta attractions. The College Football Hall of Fame is 3 floors containing more than 50 exhibits.
The National Football Foundation is a not for profit educational foundation that wants the legacy of college and youth football to live on. Only .02% of college football player and coaches have the honor of being inducted in to the Hall of Fame and the exhibits in the museum not only commemorate these people, but the blood, sweat and tears that is takes to make it as a top athlete in the game of football.
The Quad- This is where the Hall of Fame starts as visitors enter the three story building through the tunnel, they can register their all access pass and identify their personal team from one of over 750 helmets that represent a college football team on the wall that spans the entire height of the building.
Indoor Playing Field- Experience some of the same drills that collegiate players go through on the field in the in the Indoor Playing Field brought to Visitors by Southwest Airlines. Run through the Touchstone Tunnel before competing in obstacle courses, testing your strength on the field, throwing against other future quarter backs, or practicing field goals.
Chick-Fil-A Why We Love College Football- This exhibit gives visitors a history lesson in college football through hi-tech touch screen monitors for a unique experience learning about some of the game’s most legendary and history making moments.
Coca-Cola Fans’ Game Day- Visitors in this exhibit have fun singing karaoke, experiencing tailgating, team mascots, cheerleading, and the traditions of college football pride. This exhibit is very hands on and interactive for the entire family.
AT&T Game Time- This immersive gallery gives visitors a 360 degree virtual reality experience where they are put right in the middle of real time plays on the field.
Game Day Theater- The Game Day Theater features a 4K film, “The Game of Your Life” that showcases the action of college football.
KIA Building A Champion- This interactive exhibit will test visitors to see if they have what it takes to become one of the best. Outfitted with Under Armour Evolution of Equipment Gear, visitors can use technology to see how advanced uniforms have become, test their own athleticism and prowess.
College Football Hall of Fame- Each inductee to the Hall of Fame is featured on their own glass slab with augmented reality displays showcase videos about the players and coaches etches into the displays.
Renting the Hall of Fame
The College Football Hall of Fame is perfect for group outings, corporate team building, family reunions, birthday parties, and more. Church and community groups often rent book group tours of the Hall of Fame with groups of over 25 receiving discounted ticketing. Overnight experiences can even be accommodated at the Hall of Fame by turning the indoor football field into a slumber party arena.
Educators are welcome to book the College Football Hall of Fame for field trips for their classrooms.
