Persimmon Hollow Brewing Co. was the vision of homebrewers Andy Sistrunk and Robbie Carelli, who opened the downtown DeLand brewery in 2014. Due South Brewing Co. is Boynton Beach’s premiere craft brewery, brewing unique ales at a location a mere 14 feet above sea level. The 15 barrel brewhouse distributes to a number of retail partners and restaurants throughout the Key West, Daytona Beach, and Tampa regions, with brews available in more than 1,000 establishments throughout Florida. It was founded by dedicated homebrewer Mike Halker and opened to the public in 2012. Today, its taproom is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays and offers year-round favorites on draft, including the brewery’s Caramel Cream Ale, Category 3 IPA, and Coastline American-style Lager. Past seasonals and one-offs have included its Mexican Standoff mole-inspired porter, which received a silver medal at the Can Can Awards in 2018. The Tampa location offers a larger taproom facility and a 15-barrel brewing system for higher production volume. Year-round offerings at both taprooms include the brewery’s Mangrove Double IPA, Wolfman’s Berliner Weisse, Graffiti Orange American Wheat, Kitty Likes the Milk Stout, and Intergalactic American Pale Ale. Funky Buddha Brewery is a large Florida brewery with its headquarters in Oakland Park, and is owned by Constellation Brands. The brewery started its life in Boca Raton as a small brewhouse with a hookah lounge and live music. In 2010 the owners started brewing their own beer and named the brewery Funky Buddha Lounge and Brewery. In 2012, they started using the Cigar City Brewing system and begin distribution. They also opened a home brew supply store at the brewery lounge. Their Boca Raton location has a 55 US gallon brewhouse and a popular taproom. They offer tours of the brewery on weekends. Funky Buddha Brewery is credited as helping to drive the now thriving local craft brewing scene.
