Norwegian Cruise Line introduced the Freestyle Cruising concept in 2000, offering its passengers a more relaxed, resort-style cruise vacation option. The idea was to offer people more flexibility and more non-intrusive service. The cruise line now offers extended hours in the main restaurants, alternative dining options, resort-casual attire every night, and new shore activity options.

Nine large ships sail to over 140 ports around the world and in the U.S., including Miami, Seattle, Vancouver, San Juan, Boston, New York, Honolulu, and Lahaina. Norwegian Star is the only ship offering a seven-day round-trip itinerary from Honolulu to the Hawaiian islands of Oahu, Hawaii, Maui and Kauai.

The company was inducted into the Confrerie del la Chaine des Rotisseurs, a prestigious international gourmet society which promotes fine dining and pleasures of the table. There are many dining choices, including traditional, French, Italian, and Asian cuisine. Following the philosophy of Freestyle Cruising, the company allows passengers the freedom to dine whenever, wherever and with whomever they choose.

The company offers voyages to Alaska, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada/New England, Europe, Hawaii, Panama Canal and South America. Itineraries range from 3 days to several weeks.

Norwegian Star is the only seven-day round-trip Hawaiian ship to include the four main islands, Oahu, Hawaii, Maui and Kauai.

Hawaii Itineraries Aboard Norwegian

Passengers aboard Norwegian's Pride of America can experience inter-island itineraries with longer days in port and shorter days at sea. The ship began sailing 7-day roundtrip itineraries from Honolulu. For those who prefer a shorter trip, the ship also offers 3- and 4-day inter-island sailings between Honolulu and Maui. Guests can choose from golf, bicycling, kayaking, horseback riding, scuba-diving and shopping during their shore excursions. Departures are offered almost every week since the weather in Hawaii is warm year-round. Summers are most popular with families, while in the fall you may be able to find some deals. Depending on the ship and time of travel, one can find inside cabins for $999 per person for a 7-day trip.
