Located in the historic Old Sacramento district, River City Saloon is a long-running saloon that features Old West décor and serves classic pub grub, handcrafted cocktails, home-brewed Old West Sarsaparilla, and live music. Boasting a long, rich history in Old Sacramento, the saloon was originally an early framed wood building that was replaced by a brick one in 1857 and was one of the original houses of ill repute owned by Johanna Heigle in the early 1960s. It then changed hands to become Parker French’s Saloon, which was also known as an unruly place at times, particularly during Prohibition.
After falling into disrepair, the saloon was lovingly restored and remodeled to its original grandeur and renamed the River City Saloon in 2007, and it features a 1905 Triple Arch Brunswick bar similar to the original bar that took center stage in the saloon in 1871. Today, the River City Saloon is an inviting restaurant and saloon-style pub that offers award-winning cuisine, a variety of libations, including home-brewed Old West Sarsaparilla, and a variety of entertainment, including live music. The venue can be rented for private celebrations such as Western-themed weddings and receptions and offers a range of service with the rental, including catering and beverage services, and entertainment.
