Cavallo Point is known as the Lodge at the Golden Gate, and it is situated close to Horseshoe Bay in Sausalito, a San Francisco Bay Area city in California. »Cavallo Point Rooms and Suites
The majority of Cavallo Point’s rooms and suites face south and enjoy views of the San Francisco skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay or the hillside. Cavallo Point offers guests a compelling choice between its Historic Lodging, which is the tastefully restored former US Army post of Fort Baker, and its Contemporary Lodging, which sits perched on the hillside above Fort Baker.
Standard facilities include flat-screen LCD television with integrated movies and music selection, alarm clock with iPod dock, mini-refrigerator, coffee-maker, hairdryer, iron, and ironing board. Rooms and suites are furnished with comfortable chairs and ottomans and a desk with reading light. Beds are made with fine organic linens, robes are certified organic cotton and slippers and towels are also provided for guests’ convenience. For year-round comfort, ceiling fans are fitted in all rooms and suites, while gas-burning fireplaces feature in most.

Other standard features include Bellman and Concierge services, a fleet of Lexus vehicles available for guests’ use and a complimentary shuttle that provides transport to and from San Francisco and Sausalito Ferry Terminal. There are ADA rooms and suites available for guests with disabilities and dog-friendly accommodations for those with pets. For a daily Resort Fee, guests can enjoy additional services and amenities such as valet and self-parking, Wi-Fi and hard-wired Internet throughout the resort, access to the fitness suite and a morning yoga class.

Within Cavallo Point’s Historic Lodging, former officers’ residences have been transformed into spacious, family-friendly suites. The buildings are located on an expansive green space that encircles the ten-acre parade-ground and offer views of the adjacent hillside or the dramatic San Francisco skyline.
Cavallo Point features an extensive art collection, and an array of predominantly black and white photography decorates the accommodations in the Historic Lodging. Each accommodation highlights one or two artists, including Candace Plummer Gaudiani, Robert Dawson, and acclaimed San Franciscan Imogen Cunningham. Cavallo Point’s Historic Lodging comprise rooms, suites, and a two-bedroomed house, with pet-friendly accommodations available for all options.
Historic Rooms offer a king or queen-sized bed, spacious closet and separate bathroom in around four hundred square feet of accommodation. Historic Deluxe rooms provide a little more space with a king or queen-sized bed, large separate bathroom, and separate sitting room. First floor Historic Rooms and Historic Deluxe rooms also include a shared front porch furnished with rocking chairs. Guests seeking to enjoy views of San Francisco Bay and its impressive skyline should opt for the Historic Deluxe with View, which features a king-sized bed, separate bathroom, and a sitting room.
»Suites & The Frank House
The Historic King Suite offers over 500 feet of accommodation comprising a king-sized bed, queen-sized sleeper-sofa, separate bathroom and separate sitting room with fireplace. Some Historic King Suites benefit from San Francisco Skyline views, and those situated on the first floor also include a shared porch furnished with rocking chairs.
The Historic Loft is a third floor two-bedroom suite that can accommodate up to six guests.Spread over eight hundred square feet, there is one king bedroom with fireplace, a second bedroom with two twin beds and a separate living room with queen-sized sleeper-sofa. Historic Two-Bedroom Suites also provide 800 square feet of accommodation with one king bedroom and one queen bedroom and a queen-sized sleeper-sofa in the separate sitting room.
The largest of the accommodations is the two-story Frank House at over one thousand square feet. This distinctive house has two queen bedrooms, separate sitting room with fireplace, small kitchen with dining table and a private, glass-enclosed front porch. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and cooktop. The Frank House provides panoramic views of Fort Baker, San Francisco Bay, and the city skyline.
Positioned on the hillside adjacent to Fort Baker, the green architecture of the Contemporary Lodging provides stylish accommodations with features such as underfloor radiant heating, bamboo furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Cavallo Point’s extensive art collection is displayed throughout the resort, and in the Contemporary Lodging there there is a selection of conceptually-based photography, with the work of one artist featured in each accommodation. Contemporary Lodging comprises a selection of rooms and suites, and all are available as pet-friendly if required. Most rooms and suites benefit from stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay.
Contemporary Two Queens offer 455 square feet of accommodation with two queen beds in one room and a separate bathroom. The Contemporary King room has one king bedroom, separate bathroom and a private deck. The Contemporary Deluxe King is spacious and secluded, making it perfect for romantic retreats. Totaling almost 500 square feet, the accommodation includes a king-sized bed and a private deck or patio.
The Contemporary King Suite offers almost 600 square feet of accommodation comprising a king-sized bed, sitting room with window seat, separate bathroom with dual sinks, tub and shower, and a two-sided fireplace that can be enjoyed in both the bedroom and the sitting room. The Contemporary King Suite includes a private deck or patio and is secluded and romantic, making it the perfect choice for couples’ getaways.
Guests at Cavallo Point can dine in the elegant Murray Circle Restaurant, which is renowned throughout the Bay Area as a top culinary destination. With a local, seasonal menu developed by Chef Monique Feybesse, diners can enjoy a seasonal menu which incorporates simple, yet bold, techniques.
Kids’ Breakfast and Lunch Menus are available, as is a Chef’s Tasting Menu for those wishing to sample a variety of the kitchen’s offerings. Murray Circle Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a Lazy Weekend Brunch available on Saturdays and Sundays and extended dinner serving times on Friday and Saturday evenings.
A Room Service Menu is available daily from early morning until late evening. Drinks include a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, while food choices include breakfast, starters, salads, entrées, desserts and kids’ options. Guests can also order the Headlands Picnic Basket from the Room Service Menu for days out.
An In-Room Bartender is available at any time of day or night to prepare cocktails, deliver pre-made cocktails or deliver cocktail ingredients for guests to mix themselves. The service includes liquor and accompaniments to serve four to five cocktails of choice.
The on-site Farley Bar at Cavallo Point offers guests a cozy atmosphere with fireplaces and leather club armchairs in which to enjoy snacks, sandwiches, burgers, small-plate dishes such as the Midnight Moon Quinoa Mac and Cheese, big-plate dishes like the Grilled Prime Bavette Steak with Parmesan Truffle Fries, and sweet treats. An extensive selection of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages is available including coffee, soda, wine, spirits, beer, and creative cocktails. Farley Bar is open from late morning until late evening daily, with later closing times on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Tea Bar is situated within the Healing Arts Center and Spa and provides delicious non-alcoholic beverages within peaceful surroundings. The Tea Bar has both indoor and outdoor seating and is open daily from morning through to evening.
Cavallo Point’s Healing Arts Center and Spa is a tranquil haven for guests to unwind and rejuvenate the senses. Spa treatments are provided by highly trained therapists and include indulgent Massage, Body Treatments such as exfoliation and Skincare such as facial. Healing Arts services are provided by professionals in their respective fields and include acupuncture, clinical massage, hypnotherapy, herbal consultation, and nutrition consultation. It is also possible to meet with the visiting practitioner, healer and renowned shaman, Jon Rasmussen.
The Healing Arts Center and Spa includes the Tea Bar, which offers a range of healthy teas and tonics like mouthwatering Frozen Mayan Cacao. The Tea Bar has comfortable seating both inside by the fireplaces and outdoors in the garden next to the heated meditation pool.
