Located in Santa Clara County, Morgan Hill is one of the most beautiful cities in Silicon Valley. Uvas Canyon County Park is a 1,147 acre natural space that can be found in Uvas Canyon in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Some of things you can do there including hiking, picnicking, and going on overnight camping trips as they have all the facilities you may need for an enjoyable visit. You’ll come across some amazing sights in the park from the trickling Swanson Creek to several small waterfalls. Keep your eyes peeled for the extensive array of flora and fauna that you’ll be able to see there; some of the trees and plants include the Bigleaf Maple, California Juniper, Western Sycamore, and White Alder. Some of the animals that are native to the area are mountain lions, wild turkeys, coyotes, black-tailed deer, and the California Carpenter Bee.

2.Henry W. Coe State Park

Preserving a vast tract of the Diablo Range, Henry W. Coe State Park spans over 87,000 acres which makes it the second largest state park in California. The park was established in 1959, and though it is officially named Henry W. Coe State Park, many of the locals there refer to it as the Orestimba Wilderness. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the time they spend exploring the park and its flora and fauna. Some of the animals that call the park home are coyotes, mountain lions, western rattlesnakes, red-tailed hawks, coast horned lizards, and gray foxes. Additional facilities and sights within the park include a visitor center with exhibits on old ranch life, several historic ranch buildings, a bookstore, a campground, a horse camp, walking trails, and restroom facilities.

3.Coyote Valley Sporting Clay

Coyote Valley Sporting Clay is an extensive facility for 5-stand and trapshooting along with two skeet fields and two sporting clay ranges. You can enjoy the picturesque beauty of their surroundings in the Santa Clara Valley while taking part in one of the shooting courses and activities. Shooters can head to main course at any time as long as they are experienced with the safe handling of a shotgun; there are twenty fully-automated stations of various difficulties, many of which are set up for beginners. If you’re not sure where to begin you may be interested in one of their private or group lessons, which are available for interested parties of all ages.

4.Morgan Hill Farmers' Market

Open all year long, the Morgan Hill Farmers’ Market is a great place to purchase fresh produce and foods for yourself. The market attracts farmers, producers, and consumers from Morgan Hill, Hollister, Gilroy, and several other places. There are usually over 35 vendors each time around, some there week after week and some who are just passing through. Younger visitors could head over to the kid’s craft area to participate in fun activities such as painting or jewelry making. If you don’t have the time to browse, at least stop by for some delicious homemade foods and baked goods.

The Guglielmo Winery has been a Santa Clara Valley favorite since 1925; the family owned and operated business is now going on its fourth generation of Guglielmos who are dedicated to producing award-winning varietals. They produce nearly 40,000 cases annually, still following the family philosophy they first established of producing wines without compromising on quality. You’re welcome to tour their 80-acre vineyard which are then transformed to Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their guided tours of the winery include a walking tour of the facility, a look into the wine-making process, and a taste of five different Guglielmo wines.

What better way to spend a day in Morgan Hill than at Andy’s Orchard; the family-owned and operated orchard dates back to the early 1930 when Joseph Mariana emigrated to the warm coastal valley from Europe. He and his family set out to grow some of the finest fruits in the region, starting with apricots, prunes, and cherries. Over the years, his son Andy continued the family passion for artisanal fruit growing and added peaches, nectarines, market plums, and several other fruits. Spend the day outdoors with your family and friends picking delicious fruits directly off the plants; different fruits are available for different seasons and u-pick times and days vary based on the weather so call and confirm before you head over.

Founded in 1913, Morgan Hill Cellars is one of the oldest wineries in Santa Clara County. The experience is amazing before you even step inside; the winery is surrounded by gorgeous views of the foothills and the beautiful Morgan Hill Valley. You can tour their wine production facility and warehouse where you will be able to see their custom crush, custom bottling and labeling, and bulk and bottled wine storage while learning about their processes and history. Their La Fenice Tasting Room & Gift Gallery is a wonderful place to relax with family and friends; in addition to trying their array of wines, you can also go home with a number of interesting gifts such as hand-painted wine glasses and Italian pottery.

9.Downtown Pop Up Park 2.0

The Downtown Pop Up Park 2.0 is one of Morgan Hill’s most coveted family friendly spaces. The large gathering space is full of unique elements full of graffiti, sculptures, and several other exhibitions. It’s a wonderful place to just spend the day outdoors - bring over a blanket or lawn chairs and just relax in the fun-filled environment. On popular days, it’s not uncommon to see a number of food trucks parked nearby for the convenience of the park’s visitors. Amenities and facilities include a bike hub, a park area with tables and chairs, and a kids’ corner with multiple chalkboards, an urban library, and a baby grand piano for little aspiring artists to play with.

Located between San Jose and Morgan Hill, the Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve gives an authentic rural wilderness experience while being just 20 miles away from downtown San Jose. Visitors are welcome to explore the stunning surrounding or get on the multi-use trail for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. The Arrowhead Loop Train is over four miles long and will take you to the ridgetop where you will be able to see picturesque views of Mount Umunhum, Mount Hamilton, and Coyote Valley in its entirety. Preserving and sharing the rich history of the area, the Morgan Hill Museum has been an integral part of the community since it was established in 1971. The non-profit organization collects, conserves, and exhibits several documents, photographs, and artifacts that tell the story of Morgan Hill’s past. They host several events at the museum throughout the year which locals and visitors can attend; these include the Annual Holiday Boutique, Annual Holiday Tea, and wine tastings. History Conversations, which are a monthly interactive series on various topics old and new such as local families and circumstances that shaped Morgan Hill, are extremely popular with guests.

Their annual Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival is an event that residents and visitors look forward to.
