The main restaurant at Bernardus Lodge & Spa is Lucia, which, if described in a word, would be elegance. Decorated in light wood with tan and white accents, Lucia has an airy and relaxing atmosphere that reminds guests of the sandy California coasts and the vines of the vineyard while still maintaining a sophisticated feel. There are a variety of seating options for guests, including communal tables, smaller booths, bar seats, and an outdoor terrace with a great view of the resort’s garden, vineyards, and the Santa Lucia mountain range.
Lucia focuses on farm-to-table dining, and many of the herbs, fruit, and vegetables used in the restaurant are grown in the resort’s herb garden. Other ingredients are sourced from local farms to make the freshest dishes possible. The menu changes frequently to match whatever items are in season. Lucia is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner for serving all guests’ needs throughout their stay at the resort.
The menu features fresh and elegant items with a focus on the lighter side of dining. Breakfast includes items such as a Mexican fruit plate, egg white omelet, and lemon ricotta pancakes, while dinners have items such as artichoke and spinach ravioli, pacific salmon, and scallops. The Lucia also features a wide selection of wines, including flights made right on the resort property. For those looking for other drinks, the Lucia also boasts a wide selection of draft beers, vodkas, whiskeys, and other spirits.

The Bar, located next to Lucia, is perfect for guests looking for a quick bite and a couple of drinks. Decorated in darker wood in a ranch chic style with wide windows looking out on the mountains, the Bar has a homey atmosphere with a touch of class. The Bar features a large communal table on the inside, while a number of lounge chairs are on the outside porch. The bartenders are craftsmen who are well versed in a wide range of cocktails and are there every day to cultivate a feeling of familiarity with guests.
For guests looking for a more intimate dining experience, Bernardus Lodge & Spa offers a number of opportunities. The Chef’s Table is located in the kitchen of Lucia and offers a close-up look at a culinary kitchen in action. The head chef, Chef Cal, personally looks after the Chef’s Table, where up to five guests are fed a multi-course meal while the preparation is explained. The Cellar seats up to twelve guests as a six to eight course meal is served with thousands of wine pairings offered to compliment the meal.
The Magnun Room offers twelve guests a four, five, or eight course meal based on which ingredients are currently at peak, allowing guests to truly taste the season. Finally, the Harvest Room takes up to fifty guests through a live demonstration of how different dishes are made before allowing participants to taste them.
