The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is a science and history museum dedicated to immersing visitors of all ages to exploration and real-world challenges. Established in 1952, the museum is located near the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge and the scenic harbor waterfront, and features 40,000 square feet space packed with interesting exhibits, displays, artifacts and objects from all over the world. The Museum’s outstanding range of history and science exhibits features historical collections that tell the story of South Texas’s 500-year-old history and include decorative arts from families who lived in the area to historic shipwrecks from early explorers who crashed upon the shores. Designed to give visitors a deeper insight into the life, times and people of the region, the exhibits and displays are informative, interactive and innovative.

Science-based exhibits include Seeds of Change, Paleontology, Xeriscape, Hall of Earth Science, Coastal Ecology, and Explore the Nanoverse. History-based exhibits include Corpus Christi History, Cultural Encounters, Shipwreck and the Kenedy Gallery. Children’s Wharf is a unique exhibition for young visitors, which includes interactive and immersive challenges, games and puzzles that encourage learning through play. Funded by the Friends of the Corpus Christi Museum, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History Science Center is a 5,000-square foot center that features a variety of larger-than-life, hands-on exhibits that focus on chemistry and engineering, DNA and cells, paleontology, math, physics, and particles. The Center also features a full-size Planetarium and other fun displays such as an infinity mirror, a musical piano stairway, and outdoor playground and picnic area with a ‘music garden’ for families. The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History offers an array of educational programs, workshops performances, demonstrations and other activities for adults, families and children, educators, and college students that aim to inspire an interest in the history and science of South Texas.

Programs for children, young people, and their families include Free Family Days, Sensory Nights, and Girl Guide and Scout programs. Adult programming includes Science on Tap, where visitors can chat to scientists about ideas over a beer at the local pub, and museum lectures on various topics.

The Museum also offers an array of educational materials, workshops, tours and special programs for educators and teachers that aim to engage learning through real objects. Programs are designed to encourage critical thinking, creative communication and a better understanding of the rich diversity that exists in the community. The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History hosts a variety of events throughout the year to raise funds for the upkeep of the Museum and other community outreach projects. The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is located at 1900 N. Chaparral Street in Corpus Christi and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The Geek-and-Chic Shop at the Museum sells all sort of weird and wonderful items, gifts, gadgets, games, books, and puzzles for all ages.
