Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean, offering sandy beaches, mountains and a selection of resorts. The map shows the country in green and the surrounding Caribbean Sea in blue. Major cities and ports are marked on the map, including Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Morant Bay and Kingston. If you are looking to stay at a large full service resort, head to Montego Bay which is home to several resorts such as the Tryall Club and other luxury places to stay.
In the center of the island lie beautiful mountains, forests and waterfalls where you can go hiking to hidden waterfalls and scenic points. Located in the Blue Mountains on the east coast is Strawberry Hill where you can enjoy unique spa treatments and lounge by the vanishing edge pool overlooking the valley below.
If you decide to stay close to Negril, you can sunbathe on the famous seven mile beach lined with unique shops and restaurants. You will also have access to a selection of watersports. Tour operators can take you sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving – ask the hotel concierge to point you in the right direction. In the evening, allow plenty of time to watch a romantic sunset and have drinks overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Several scenic rivers flow through the island, including Black River and Minha River. Tours are offered that let you explore the waterfalls, or you can rent a car and get around on your own. Several smaller towns are located in the island’s interior, including Mandeville and Spanish Town.
Jamaica is surrounded by other islands in the Caribbean. It’s located more to the west than other popular vacation spots such as Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia and St. Kitts and Nevis. The closest islands are Cuba and Haiti. To the west lies Mexico and Central America.
