Arena di Verona in Italy is one of the best preserved roman monuments, almost 2,000 years old, and the third largest amphitheater in Europe. In the summer months, the arena hosts opera performances which take place from the last days in June through August, a tradition since 1913. Seeing a performance is definitely an event not to be missed if you are visiting Verona.

The stage for opera performances is the biggest in the world, measuring 154 by 91 feet (47 by 28 meters). The arena holds 15,000 spectators and opera performances attract over half a million people every year.

Tickets can be reserved by calling the ticket office at +39-045-800-5151. Opera schedule information is available online at or by phone.

Verona is located in northern Italy, about 70 miles from Venice. It can be reached by train from Venice in about 1.5 hours.
