Little Rock’s very own The Root Cafe is the place to chill. Guests can come over for a couple of sandwiches and salads while enjoying the patio setting. Trying to promote sustainability and sticking to its own roots (which explains the name) the cafe prepares its dishes using only fresh and locally sourced ingredients while maintaining other practices that help them stay as local as possible.
Guests who eat at Root Cafe are treated to a home-like vibe. As they walk in, they not only order food and drinks at the counter but pick up their own utensils and linen as well - a small detail that some might find attractive.
But more than its salads and beverages, The Root is particularly known for its burgers, which are built bottom up with nothing but products from Arkansas. The beef patties are cooked on the restaurant’s small griddle after being lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. The baby lettuce and tomatoes are all sourced from local farmers. They make their own mayonnaise too. They use local cheese too. These make all the difference in achieving the noteworthy flavor that these burgers are known for.
Not only that, these burgers go great with their equally popular fries. These salted delights are hand-cut and skillet-friend until brown, crispy, and ultimately delicious. While there aren’t too many beverages available at the cafe, they still have a decent selection of hot teas, coffees, cider, and other juices to dot the meal.
The Root is open six days a week, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner through the day.
