Located in La Paz County in the western part of the state, Parker is a little city on the Colorado River. Founded in 1908 and named after Ely Parker, who was the first Native American commissioner for the United States government and also served as a lieutenant colonel in the American Civil War, this city is located in the Parker Valley area and is home to a few thousand people. It's a small and sleepy city in general, but attracts a good number of visitors each years, especially RV enthusiasts and campers, due to its prime location near many major natural and recreation areas for all sorts of activities.
