Located in Dothan, Alabama, Water World is 12-acre municipal water park facility located inside the city’s Westgate Park, offering high-thrill water slides, a large family wave pool, and a safe children’s water play area. The city of Dothan, Alabama is located in Houston County, approximately 20 miles from the state’s western border with Georgia and 16 miles from its southern border with Florida.

Named for the reference to the location in the Biblical book of Genesis, the city was part of the British West Florida colony before being incorporated as a permanent pioneer settlement town in the late 19th century. Nicknamed the “Peanut Capital of the World,” the city is host to the National Peanut Festival and serves as a major economic and tourism hub for the southeastern Alabama and southwestern Georgia areas. The city’s Water World water park was constructed in 1980 as part of the Westgate Recreation Center facility, which also offers an indoor heated year-round pool, gymnasium facility, volleyball and racquetball courts, and a sauna and whirlpool area. The water park and recreation center are part of Dothan’s Westgate Park, which features a youth activity complex, walking and jogging trail system, soccer and athletic complex, and Kiwanis park and trail.
