There is plenty to do and see in county Clare and neighboring counties. Guests of the Dromoland Castle can enjoy nature walks, hiking, and horseback riding, or go fishing and clay shooting if they are looking for a different kind of thrill. With over 400 acres of land, the Castle estate is a wonderful area to explore on foot or by bike. The estate includes two public gardens, a natural gallery, a few working gardens, and a lily pond. Alongside the natural gallery, guests will see over 60 yew trees and a beech tree that is one of the oldest in Ireland. The estate includes many paths and walkways that lead to peaceful and picturesque corners of the estate.
For those who love horses, horse riding is an option at the Dromoland Castle. Guests can book a guided tour and enjoy the outdoors on horseback. For those who would rather travel by horse drawn carriage, the Dromoland Castle offers an hour long guided tour of the estate that includes an overview of the history of the castle and the estate.
Fishing trips are also available out of the Dromoland Castle. The lough nearby is full of fish and guests are free to fish from the banks of the lake or they can choose to hop on a fishing boat for a half day fishing trip and learn a thing or two out on the water with a fishing expert.
Another activity that is popular at the castle is clay pigeon shooting. Guests will not be shooting real birds or pigeons but will practice their aim, timing and concentration as the fake birds fly overhead. This sport is available for guests of all ages. Guests are sure to have fun and experience something new while staying at the Dromoland Castle.
