To stay at Whiteface Lodge is to surrender oneself to luxury. Its ninety-five guest suites were built for elegance and comfort and were decorated to imitate the sepia look of 19th century photographs.

Whiteface Lodge is a spectacular place to dine. With a focus on locally-sourced produce from farms in the area and Native American fish and game, the team of chefs at the Whiteface cook up American cuisine at its finest.

The KANU dining room is open for three meals a day and has an open kitchen to allow guests to watch their food being prepared. It features North American fish and game, has a sommelier to perfectly pair wines with each meal and has a children’s menu.

The KANU lounge presents casual dining in comfort. While seated in plush armchairs, listening to live music, guests can order wood-fired pizza, artisan sandwiches and salads. There is a children’s menu at the KANU lounge as well.

The Old Fashion Ice Cream Parlor serves Adirondack Creamery ice cream. Patrons can order cones, sundaes (with brownies!), milkshakes and sodas, or purchase a chocolate bar.

The Spa Café features healthy food for a healthy body and mind. The Spa Café’s fare is low in fat, calories, sugar and salt but is still delicious and diverse. Guests can try the yummy benefits of a smoothie or order ahead for a lunch-time bento box.

The Poolside Spa offers healthy lunches, pizza, sliced seasonal fruit and has a children’s menu. The Canoe Club, directly on the shore of Lake Placid, serves burgers, wraps, raw fruit and veggies with dip, salads, and ice cream for dessert.

At the Bear’s Den Market, guests can relax in wrought-iron patio seating while they drink fair trade coffee, cappuccino or espresso and munch on trail mix, caramel apples, pastries, chips, candy and gourmet chocolate. The Bear’s Den Market also stocks basic groceries and toiletries. Round the clock room service is offered to all guests of the hotel. Whether guests prefer indoor or outdoor activities, and no matter what the weather or the season, fun is just around the corner. Swimmers will enjoy the indoor/outdoor heated pool and the outdoor hot tubs. Guests can walk marked nature trails or go off hiking on their own. Guests with an adventurous bent will enjoy climbing up the many rock faces on the hotel’s property. In the winter, tobogganing, ice skating, downhill and cross-country skiing make for happy family activities. Fitness-conscious folk will also like the fully-equipped gym, the tennis courts or the local championship golf course. There is a playground just for kids.

Indoors, guests can relax in a variety of ways. The game room is stocked with board games, shuffleboard, and has pool tables, foosball and air hockey. Evenings can be spent watching a film at the 56-seat surround sound movie theater or bowling with the family. Summer days can be spent at the Canoe Club, the Whiteface Lodge’s exclusive beachfront facility, which can be reached by complimentary shuttle between May and September.

Swimming is a must, as is making castles on the sandy beach. Guests of the Whiteface Lodge are free to use the Canoe Club’s canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and paddle boards. Down at the beach guests can play volleyball, bocce, badminton, tetherball, horseshoes or life-sized Jenga. The Spa at Whiteface Lodge is one of the top spas in North America. Offering traditional and signature treatments, all you can dream of is in the intimate spa at Whiteface Lodge.

The staple spa offering is a massage, and Whiteface’s spa has many. Traditional Swedish rubdowns, deep tissue massages, massages to help guests recover from sports injuries or strains. In-suite and couples massages for both men and women are also available. The Great Salt Lake Bath and Massage Ritual combines a Swedish massage with a bath in Epsom salts and sea salts to lather and rejuvenate the body. Four-handed massages with two therapists are available. Guests with little time at their disposal will appreciate the express massage, which lasts only 25 minutes. The Thai massage is perfect for the shy person; the guest remains fully clothed and is treated with acupressure and stretching. Scalp massages and reflexology are also available.

There are facials for every type of skin at the Whiteface Lodge’s spa. The Great Outdoors facial treats skin that has been damaged by sunlight, wind and cold. The Acne Repair facial diminishes visible skin imperfections and normalizes sebum secretions to prevent future breakouts. The Vitamin C Wrinkle Repair facial stimulates collagen production, reduces fine lines and promotes elasticity. The Dynamic Restoration treatment removes layers of dead skin and repairs age-related skin conditions. The Hydrofacial uses dermabrasion, hydration and infuses the skin with anti-oxidants and peptides. Also available at the spa are chemical peels, eye lifts, neck and décolletage firming as well as makeup application.

The spa offers a wide range of body treatments. The Lodge Mud Wrap exfoliates and nourishes the skin, and is combined with a scalp massage and a full-body application of organic shea butter mixed with green tea oil. The Adirondack Exfoliation uses mineral crystals and organic essential oils to rejuvenate the skin and finishes with a hydrating application of shea butter. The Apple Cider Masque and Massage rehydrates and promotes youthful-looking skin, using mineral clay from Canadian seas mixed with iced cider and apple vinegar. A scalp and full body massage using apple extracts completes the treatment.
