Built in 1873, the mansion was the first residence in Savannah to have electricity and was a renowned venue for elite social events. After surviving the great fire in 1898, the building was almost destroyed to become a playground but was luckily saved Historic Savannah Foundation and restored to its former glory. The James Oglethorpe Suite features 12-foot high ceilings and vast floor-to-ceiling windows that embrace beautiful views of Lafayette Square. Grand floor-to-ceiling windows look out over the trees on Lafayette Square and high ceilings add an elegant touch.

Dark red walls exude an air of luxury in the Earl of Chatham Suite, which features two queen-sized beds, an en-suite bathroom with a deluxe walk-in shower and double vanity, plush towels and bathrobes and organic bath products. A separate sitting area has comfortable seating, an HD television and lovely views over the picturesque Lafayette Square.

The Button Gwinnett Room has beautiful hardwood floors and is tastefully decorated with vibrant, contemporary décor. The spacious, garden level Casimir Pulaski and Johnny Mercer Rooms are warm and welcoming rooms with private front entrance, queen-sized beds and newly renovated bathroom with walk-in rain showers, granite vanities, and marble finishes.

The sophisticated Juliette Gordon Low Room boasts elegant décor with a Victorian queen-sized bed and a stylish bathroom walk-in shower, full-length mirror, plush towels and bathrobes and organic bath products. >Hamilton-Turner Inn is nestled in the heart of the Savannah’s downtown historic district, which is one of the largest National Historic Landmarks in the country and home to a wealth of attractions, activities, and interesting historical sites.

Antebellum Houses worth visiting include the Andrew Low and the Green-Meldrim Houses, both designed by John Norris, the Isaiah Davenport House, the circa 1831 Juliette Gordon Low House and the Mercer Williams House, which was made famous in the 1994 John Berendt novel “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”

Notable museums include the Ships of the Sea Museum, which exhibits a variety of maritime antiques, ships models, and paintings, the Savannah Railroad Museum, which is the largest existing nineteenth-century railroad operations complex in the nation. The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is home to many outstanding World War II exhibits.

Savannah is home to no less than 22 pristine parks and squares, which form the green heart of the city. These parks are beautiful places to stroll around and soak up the tranquility or enjoy a picnic with friends.

Lafayette Square was established in 1837 and features a stunning water fountain which is dyed green for the city massive St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Originally known as St. James Square, Telfair Square is located between State Street and York Street and was built to honor the Telfair family. Washington Square was constructed in 1790 and named after the first President of the United States, who visited Savannah in that year. The 30-acre Forsyth Park features winding walking paths, open air basketball and tennis courts and a designated children’s playground area and casual café.
