Quick Weekend Vacations from Los Angeles

Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree is a a desert park just over 2 hours by car from LA, offering visitors an array of outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, horseback riding and rock climbing. Big Sur

In Big Sur, vacationers enjoy some of the most incredible views of the Californian coastline. Get Away to Las Vegas from LA

A five-hour, 275 mile drive from Los Angeles, Las Vegas is a playground for adults. There are more things to see and do than you could possible squeeze into a weekend. From spectacular shows and free attractions to shopping, dining, great spas and casinos, the town is a fun weekend getaway. The road from Los Angeles is most crowded on Fridays and Sundays. If you are somewhat flexible with your travel plans, try to arrive before the Friday afternoon rush so that you don't have to wait at the hotel to check in.

All of the resorts are in continuous competition to build bigger and more interesting attractions. The Fountains of Bellagio are one of the favorites. This free show incorporates famous musical pieces, jets of water and clever choreography to present a spectacle like no other. Bellagio Lake is difficult to miss since it's located in the center of the Strip.

If you can't quite make it to NYC, visit New York-New York Hotel where you can see smaller versions of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. There is also a thrilling roller coaster ride with views of the city which will give you a rush of adrenaline on your weekend getaway.

The Venetian Hotel features replicas of Venetian landmarks, such as a smaller version of St Mark's Square, Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto. Romantic gondola rides are popular with couples and honeymooners. Across the Strip is the Mirage Volcano which erupts with colors and sounds after it gets dark outside.

Where to Stay
The Strip is several miles long. In the center of the Strip, there is Paris , Bellagio Hotel, Bally's, Flamingo and Caesars Palace. To the south of these resorts lie Monte Carlo, MGM Grand, Tropicana, Bally's, Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay. North lie Harrah's, the Venetian, the Mirage, the Wynn and Treasure Island. Further up the strip are hotels including Circus Circus, Riviera, Platinum Hotel, Planet Hollywood, Trump International, and the Stratosphere. Downtown is home to the Golden Nugget, Four Queens Hotel and the Fremont Street experience. Downtown is about 25 minutes by taxi from the mid-Strip hotels.
