Located on West Mountain Avenue in Fort Collins, the Museum features a range of exhibits designed to inspire, engage and encourage visitors to educate themselves about the world’s different cultures, their rich histories and the art they produce. Mission & History


The mission of the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures is to foster and celebrate local and international folk art, fine arts and artifacts from around the globe, as well as to become an internationally renowned center for the interpretation, preservation, and celebration of arts and cultures around the world.

Established in 2010, the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures was founded to inspire, engage and educate visitors about cultures, history, art and people from around the world and create a better understanding of the world in itself. The Museum relocated to a larger facility on Mountain Avenue in 2011 which featured four vast exhibition spaces, namely the Main Gallery, the Mundoville Gallery (International Folk Art in Miniature), the Village Arts Gallery, and the Hall Gallery. The Mundoville Gallery (International Folk Art in Miniature) and the Village Arts Gallery features the Museum’s permanent collection, the Hall Gallery of International Textiles features a variety of unique hand stitched and woven wall hangings, and the Main Gallery houses the Museum’s temporary exhibitions. The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures features a permanent collection of hundreds of archaeological objects, ethnographic items, and works of art from around the world. The collection spans an array of world cultures and historical periods that illustrate a plethora of ancient and traditional techniques and materials used by people from around the world.

The permanent collection of the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures is housed in the Mandeville Gallery International Folk Art in Miniature and Village Arts Galleries. These galleries feature selections from ancient, traditional, and contemporary cultures, including world folk art, fine art, artifacts and objects, and musical instruments from Africa, Asia, and Oceania. The Main Gallery of the Global Village Museum features a variety of temporary exhibits, showing three to four exhibitions every year.

Permanent collections at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures include ‘Egypt: Gift of the Nile’, which is housed in the Main Gallery. The exhibition showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Egyptian civilization and features unique artifacts and works of art, including papyrus prints, textiles and clothing, Egyptian wedding jewelry, illustrations, camel saddles, beautiful inlaid treasure boxes, and a replica of the Rosetta Stone. This acclaimed exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the Egyptian culture - the ancient cradle of civilization - and its temples, hieroglyphics, pharaohs, and mummification processes.

The Mundoville Gallery International Folk Art in Miniature is a fascinating display of the world in miniature, which comprises multiple small-scale scene replications, including over 21 miniature houses, and hundreds of international folk dolls representing cultures from around the globe. The collection also features a variety of life-size items and handmade pieces from natural materials. The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures offers a variety of educational programs and activities for all ages. Youth activities at the Museum include Free Story Time at The Museum, which offers stories relating to the exhibitions in the Main Gallery told by talented storytellers, Art & Artifact Scavenger Hunts, music performances, and more. The Global Village Museum offers internships for scholars and students that present the opportunity to learn more about folk art and other cultures from around the world.

The Global Village Museum is located at 200 West Mountain Avenue in Fort Collins and is open to the public from Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Visitors can explore the Museum, and its collections can be explored on self-guided and guided tours led by knowledgeable docents. Tours are scheduled Wednesday through Saturday and last about an hour. The Museum has an onsite Museum Shop that sells a variety of art-related treasures, books, gifts and other items and is open during Museum opening hours.
