Founder, conductor and artistic director of the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Bahman Saless has been described as ‘entrepreneurial, creative, and plugged in,’ and a ‘conductor for the 21st century.’ Bahman Saless’ musical career began by studying violin at Michigan State University while following a career in theoretical Physics. After completing his graduate studies, Bahman Saless worked as a physicist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, while steadily becoming an award-winning and prolific film composer, scoring more a variety of nature documentaries, as well as many Hollywood trailers and teasers.

Saless has been the conductor of the BCO for the past 12 years, as well as a co-founder of the International Conducting Institute (ICI), an institution that is dedicated to the development of orchestral conducting and offers workshops for young conductors from all over the world. Saless now presents over 17 concerts a year, including the traditional annual New Year’s Eve concert.

The Boulder Chamber Orchestra offers many ways in which people can get involved with the orchestra and classical music industry from playing in the orchestra and volunteering at concerts to making donations and contributions and marketing the orchestra’s programs by word of mouth. The orchestra also partners with several organizations to promote classical music and educate, build and strengthen the community, including the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) for a food drive and Boulder High School. The BCO offers the Eva Mesmer Instrument Scholarship each which involves learning how to play the viola and violin, which were left to the orchestra by Eva Mesmer.
