Each guest room at Hotel Cheval is named for a celebrated, historic horse. The décor is done elegantly and tastefully and is customized to each individual room. There are three classifications of rooms at Hotel Cheval – Classic, Deluxe and Luxury.

The Classic rooms are highlighted by gorgeous wood beams and high ceilings to create a more open feel. They are located on the ground floor of the hotel and some feature patios and/or fireplaces. The Deluxe rooms all come with an in-room fireplace and are located on the second floor of the hotel. The vaulted ceilings and contemporary furnishings add to the elegant atmosphere and create a roomy feel to the space.

The Luxury rooms are the most spacious rooms at the hotel. Each comes equipped with a fireplace and either vaulted ceilings or exposed wood beam ceilings. Some have a window seat, outdoor patio area and/or sundeck. They are located on both the first and second floor of the hotel.

Every room at Hotel Cheval comes with a California King sized bed with luxurious 400 thread count bedding for superior comfort and a restful night’s sleep. All rooms feature a 37” LCD television complete with digital cable and some premium movie channels for in-room entertainment.

Although Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, each room has an Ethernet hook-up available for guests to hardwire their laptops to the network. Guests can also enjoy use of the robes and slippers in each room as well as complimentary bottled water and coffee or tea.

Guests at Hotel Cheval are treated to a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. This breakfast includes a vast selection of breakfast items including cold cereals, pastries, muffins, fruit, a daily egg dish, cold meats and cheeses, house-made granola, juices, coffee and tea and so much more. On Saturday and Sunday this complimentary breakfast is expanded to include a made-to-order omelet station as well as fluffy pancakes. In the afternoon, tea and coffee is served along with treats for guests to snack on.

For lunch and dinner, guests will find a fine selection of restaurants and cafes in the downtown area very close by. Some local favorites within walking distance include Artisan, Buona Tavola and Thomas Hill Organics, just to name a few. If guests are willing to drive a little ways, there is McPhee’s Grill and The Restaurant at Justin.

Hotel Cheval is home to the The Pony Club, a wine, beer and champagne bar located just off the hotel lobby. This bar is open to the public as well, so there is always a rumble of activity. The horseshoe shaped bar top and black and white photographs on the walls add to the modest equestrian theme of the hotel.

The Pony Club is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a glass of Paso Robles finest wines and listen to live music. Guests can order from the cocktail menu serving not only Central California wines but also appetizers and small plates. If guests wish to go off-site to enjoy local pubs or bars, the downtown area is within an easy walking distance.

Fish Gaucho is a Cal-Mex style seafood restaurant with a Tequila Bar for those who want to enjoy some local cuisine and a drink or two. La Cosecha Bar and Restaurant is a more upscale establishment featuring a craft cocktail menu which uses as much local fresh ingredients as possible with a Spanish and Latin flare.

While there is not a dedicated spa on-site at Hotel Cheval, there are plenty of spa treatments available to guests through the in-room spa treatment services. With a wide array of services available, guests will be sure to find a treatment to have them feeling relaxed, pampered and rejuvenated all within the privacy and comfort of their own room. Some of the more popular service choices include their massages.

There are five different types of massages to choose from including a Heated Stone Massage using the heat from stones strategically placed at stress points on the body to alleviate sore, tired muscles. Another favorite is the Cheval Signature Massage which incorporates a Swedish massage into an ultra-relaxing experience with warm oils and rich aromas. Other treatments available include facials, hand and foot reflexology and body scrubs.

It is strongly suggested that all spa treatments are booked well in advance to ensure availability. It is important to note that there is a minimum of one hour to be booked at a time, however two treatments of 30 minutes each may be combined.

Hotel Cheval is an intimate 16 room boutique style hotel and even though there are no dedicated wedding services or meeting facilities, its close proximity to downtown Paso Robles makes this a great home base for any weddings or functions that may be happening in the area.

Guests at Hotel Cheval will have the amenity of a Guest Service Representative to assist in any suggestions for activities in the area, make dinner reservations at local establishments, book excursions and even arrange transportation to various sites for shopping, exploring or adventure.

At Hotel Cheval each evening, there is a cart set up where guests can enjoy fresh, made to order S’mores. There is a dedicated staff to carry out this task. In fact, Hotel Cheval has made S’mores part of their claim to fame. They are made over the open fire in one of the outdoor fireplaces where guests can take along a drink, and cozy up on a comfortable outdoor couch to relax by the fire while still enjoying fresh air.

There are a few golf options available in the surrounding area of Hotel Cheval. In fact, two great courses are only about a nine minute drive away from the hotel. Guests can enjoy a few rounds at Paso Robles Golf Club, which has recently been renovated and rejuvenated and is now open to the public. There are many events which take place at the clubhouse as well as dining options and a lounge for drinks. The course is beautifully landscaped and is not overwhelming for the average golfer.

Hunter Ranch Golf Course is a popular choice amongst both visitors and locals. It is an 18-hole course with rolling hills, gorgeous views of the winery surroundings and well-manicured fairways. There are memberships available but it is also open to the public. Golfers can enjoy a bite to eat or a drink at the Grill, which is open for breakfast and lunch daily plus a fabulous Sunday brunch. Happy hour runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The Grill even has a Pooch menu for patrons’ dogs. Patrons can practice their game at the complimentary 3-hole practice course on-site or on the all-grass practice facility. The all-grass hitting stations allow golfers to practice their swing and their drive. There are bunkers built-in to practice chipping out of hazards. Hunter Ranch has a very comprehensive website which allows guests to book tee times, shop online and explore the overall course.

For guests who are interested in wineries and vineyards, Hotel Cheval offers a private, customized winery tour for two to four guests. There is an hourly rate with a four hour minimum booking time and guests will be transported in the Hotel Cheval private SUV to explore different wineries, sample the local wines and learn about the process of wine making. If guests wish to add something else to the itinerary, guest services are always willing to oblige. Wine excursions are available for booking between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.

A particularly special feature of Hotel Cheval is their love of canine companions. The hotel allows up to two dogs per room, up to 80 pounds each, for a small daily charge. They will provide dog beds appropriate to the dogs size, water and food bowls for the duration of the stay, and plastic clean up bags. Dogs are considered family at Hotel Cheval. Guests are simply asked to keep dogs on a leash at all times in public areas and to never leave their dogs unattended in their room.

Hotel Cheval is an adult oriented getaway, therefore there are no specific services for families or those with children.
